How long will I fast? Ramadan 2027

The number of fasting hours depends entirely on your city: from Fajr to sunset, the length varies with latitude and season. Here, for Ramadan 2027, is the length of the first day, the last day and the longest day — with a comparison across several cities.

Durations are calculated from local prayer times. They can vary by a few minutes depending on the calculation method and the mosque you follow.

Why fasting length changes from city to city

The fast runs from Fajr (dawn) to Maghrib (sunset). Its length depends on two things: the city's latitude and the time of year Ramadan falls in. The farther from the equator, the longer the days in summer and the shorter in winter. Because Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, the fasting length for a given city shifts from one year to the next — which is why it's worth checking the figures for 2027.

How these durations are calculated

For each day we compute the Fajr and Maghrib times locally, with the same formulas as the prayer calendar, then measure the gap between them. No data is sent anywhere: everything runs in your browser. The calculation method (Fajr angle) is applied identically to every city compared, so the difference shown reflects geography rather than a mere choice of method.

Handling long fasting days well

When the fast is long, the two meals matter most: Suhur (before dawn) and Iftar (breaking the fast). Hydrate steadily between them, favour slow carbohydrates and fibre at Suhur, and avoid intense effort in the late afternoon. This matters especially for northern cities, where the range between the first and last day can exceed an hour.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours is the fast during Ramadan 2027?+

It depends on your city. Select it above to see the exact length of the first day, the last day and the longest day of Ramadan 2027.

Why isn't the fasting length the same everywhere?+

Because it depends on dawn and sunset times, which vary with the city's latitude and the season. Two distant cities can differ by more than an hour.

Does the length change from day to day during the month?+

Yes, slightly each day. The chart above shows the trend across the 29 or 30 days: the length gradually rises or falls with the season.

Does the calculation method affect the length?+

A little: the Fajr angle changes when the fast starts (Maghrib does not depend on the method). For a fair comparison, the same method is applied to every city.
